You’re Not Feeding Canine Country to Its Full Potential..

"Canine Country is an excellent raw food foundation — but with a few smart, targeted add-ons, you can fill the gaps and supercharge your dog’s nutrition."

Any premade diet comes with limitations - it's the cost of convenience.

Canine Country makes high-quality, human-grade raw meals that are an excellent foundation for your dog’s diet. But here’s the important thing to know — they don’t include organ meats.

This isn’t a flaw. It’s a deliberate choice to:

  • Avoid high purine levels (important for dogs with certain health needs)

  • Reduce the risk of tummy upsets in sensitive dogs

  • Give owners the freedom to customise the diet to their dog’s needs

If you’re just defrosting and serving, your dog might not be getting the full nutritional spectrum raw feeding can offer. Luckily, it’s incredibly easy — and delicious — to supercharge your Canine Country meals.

1. Rotate Proteins for Ultimate Balance

Every protein offers a different nutrient profile — beef brings iron and zinc, chicken is rich in B vitamins, duck provides higher fat content for energy, and lamb offers unique amino acids for muscle repair.

From our store:

  • Mixed Protein Box – variety without thinking.

  • Health Booster Box – nutrient-dense cuts for a real upgrade.

  • Composite Blends – bases you can customise.

  • Just remember: they all still need organs!

💡 Pro Tip: Rotate proteins every 1–2 weeks to give your dog a complete nutrient spread.

2. Balance the Organ Ratio

A complete raw diet contains around 10% secreting organs over time:

  • ~5% liver – rich in vitamin A, copper, and B vitamins.

  • ~5% other secreting organs – kidney, spleen, pancreas, etc.

Some dogs thrive with slightly more liver (up to 7%) and 5% other secreting organs, but it’s best to introduce gradually.

From our store:

"No premade raw food can be 100% complete for every dog — that’s where smart add-ons come in."

3. Upgrade the Omegas

Canine Country uses linseed oil — a plant omega-3 source. While it still offers antioxidant benefits and supports skin barrier health, dogs can only convert a small amount into the EPA/DHA needed for anti-inflammatory and brain health benefits.

Boost with marine sources:

  • Antinol – concentrated green-lipped mussel oil for joints, skin, and overall wellness.

  • Sardines (from our store) – feed 30–50g 2–3x per week for a 30kg dog.

4. Support with Seaweed

Seaweed — particularly Ascophyllum nodosum — is a powerhouse ingredient for dogs, offering both oral health benefits and essential nutrients. Studies show it can reduce plaque and tartar by changing the oral environment, making it harder for bacteria to stick to teeth. It’s also a rich source of iodine (for thyroid health), trace minerals like magnesium, zinc, and iron, and anti-inflammatory compounds that support joints, skin, and coat.

However, dose matters . Too much iodine can disrupt thyroid function, and since Canine Country already includes kelp (with no disclosed quantity due to batch cooking), it’s impossible to know the exact iodine level. That’s why we recommend a half dose daily.

All seaweed isn’t equal — quality and sourcing matter. Low-grade seaweed can carry heavy metals, but our Simply Seaweed and NAS Organic Seaweed are carefully sourced and tested for safety.

From our store:

  • Simply Seaweed – 100% Ascophyllum nodosum, proven to support dental health and freshen breath.

  • NAS Organic Seaweed – Certified organic, rich in bioavailable minerals, and ideal for immune, thyroid, and coat health.

By adding seaweed thoughtfully, you can give your dog dental, mineral, and overall wellness benefits — without overdoing the iodine.

5. Understand the “Cost of Convenience”

Premade raw meals are batch-made for consistency — but that also means the nutrient profile is locked in and may not offer the same variety as building meals fresh each day.
You’re paying for quality and convenience — so the best approach is to treat Canine Country as a base , then layer in:

  • Rotating proteins

  • Correct organ ratios

  • Fresh omega-rich foods

  • Targeted supplements for your dog’s needs
